10 more weeks to go

At the maximum, there are merely 10 more weeks to go before you’ll finally have your baby in your arms to judge for yourself who he or she looks like. Does he has dad’s curly hair or mom’s long eyelashes? Does he has dad’s broad chin or Mum’s almond eyes? Questions to all answers that may arise within you will be answered, but until the time comes, you need to be very careful.

How’s the baby coming on?

Sleep-wake cycle

  • At 30 weeks pregnant, the baby weighs around 1.36 kilograms and is continually growing in weight and length.
  • He or she is now highly aware of the surroundings (that is, the inside of the uterus)

  • The baby has a sleep-wake cycle which can be observed by the mother.
  • The baby’s eyelids open and close repeatedly.
  • Lanugo is finally disappearing and the nails are growing.
  • Towards the third trimester, the movements that were once frequent and freer become limited since there is less space to explore now that the baby has grown in size and occupies more space within the uterus. You’ll probably feel the elbows and knees poking every once in a while.

Sleeping problems

If you’re having trouble getting your much needed forty winks, try to sleep on your left side. The aorta and vena cava are slightly to your right, so if you lie down on your left side, the blood flow to your extremities and organs will be unobstructed. This should help you get your much needed rest.

If you haven’t already familiarized yourself with the process of labor in one your childbirth classes, now is the perfect time to do so. Read up on what you need to expect when you enter labor to ensure that you are well prepared for them when the labor pains finally begin.

Daddy needs to?

It is time to limit your out-of-town or overseas trips, so that you’ll always be around in case your partner begins to feel the contractions coming. If this is not possible, be sure to assign a close family member the duty to be around your partner to take care for her while you’re away and assist her in any way possible. Keep your close friend alert by informing them of your absence beforehand. Your partner must not be alone when the contractions begin.
