Many congratulations! You are now on first month of your pregnancy! The actual news of your pregnancy is broken to you during this week so you’re in for a happy time. Eight months from now, you’ll have a very big reason to celebrate.

How’s the baby coming on?

Blastocyst is in your uterus

The blastocyst is in your uterus now, and it has implanted at a specific spot in the uterine wall. Once it settles, it divides into two groups of cell. One of the groups eventually becomes the baby and the other is to become the placenta for the baby and the mother to connect.

Usual pre-menstrual symptoms

During this week, you feel the usual pre-menstrual symptoms which may include

  • Mood swings
  • Fatigue
  • Breast soreness.

This usually gets you mentally prepared for your next period, but you’re in for a great surprise this time.

Take a urine pregnancy test

If both fertilization and implantation have taken place, you miss your period. This is because the egg production stops the instant one egg is fertilized. At this stage, the best way to ascertain your pregnancy is to take a urine pregnancy test. The do-it-yourself kits can be purchased over the counter and are available in most pharmacies and drug stores. They are also quite easy to understand and use.

The results of the test

This test measures the amount of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin or HCG present in your urine. As this hormone is only formed once pregnancy has been achieved, this test is a confirmation of it. Although reportedly, this being a qualitative analysis on the basis of color change of a strip, has not been found to be completely accurate.

Keep yourself healthy

You need to rest as much as you can throughout this period. Adopt healthy diet and mild exercises as a part of your life because the first trimester is the most important in your child’s development. Special care needs to be taken!

Daddy needs to?

Because you are the Daddy, a big responsibility now rests on your shoulder as well. This being perhaps the most emotional and stressful period of your partner’s life, your support is vital. Mommy needs a partner more than she ever did, so keep your cool and become the husband you may not prefer to be under normal circumstances. Listen to everything she may say, make her as comfortable as you can. Your understanding will be her tonic.
